Signing and Encrypting Emails in Microsoft Outlook
This article explains how to digitally sign and encrypt emails in Microsoft Outlook using S/MIME certificates.
Prerequisites
- Valid S/MIME certificate installed
- Microsoft Outlook configured
- Recipient's public key for encryption
Digital Signing
- Compose Email: Create a new email message
- Sign Options: Click on signing options in the ribbon
- Send Signed: The email will be digitally signed
Email Encryption
- Encryption Options: Select encryption in email options
- Recipient Certificate: Ensure recipient's certificate is available
- Send Encrypted: Email will be encrypted for secure transmission
Verification
- Signed emails show signature status
- Encrypted emails require private key to decrypt
