Signing and Encrypting Emails in Microsoft Outlook

This article explains how to digitally sign and encrypt emails in Microsoft Outlook using S/MIME certificates.

Prerequisites

  • Valid S/MIME certificate installed
  • Microsoft Outlook configured
  • Recipient's public key for encryption

Digital Signing

  1. Compose Email: Create a new email message
  2. Sign Options: Click on signing options in the ribbon
  3. Send Signed: The email will be digitally signed

Email Encryption

  1. Encryption Options: Select encryption in email options
  2. Recipient Certificate: Ensure recipient's certificate is available
  3. Send Encrypted: Email will be encrypted for secure transmission
