Setting Up Your Exchange Online Account for Use with Microsoft Outlook 2016 on Windows

This guide shows how to configure Microsoft Outlook 2016 on Windows to work with Exchange Online.

Prerequisites

  • Microsoft Outlook 2016 installed on Windows
  • Active Exchange Online account
  • Administrative rights on the computer

Configuration Steps

Method 1: Automatic Setup

  1. Open Outlook 2016
  2. Start Account Setup: If first time, setup wizard starts automatically
  3. Enter Email: Type your Exchange Online email address
  4. Auto-Configuration: Outlook will detect Exchange Online settings
  5. Enter Password: Provide your account password
  6. Complete Setup: Click "Finish"

Method 2: Manual Setup

If automatic setup fails:

  1. File Menu: Click "File" > "Add Account"
  2. Manual Setup: Choose "Manual setup or additional server types"
  3. Select Service: Choose "Microsoft Exchange or compatible service"
  4. Server Settings:
